My practice is aimed at treating individuals and couples. I use both short and long term treatment techniques, meaning we can address your issues and problems in a few sessions, or do more serious long term work. Your choice.
I am trained as a psychoanalyst, but I am not locked into that or any other orthodox approach. I am willing and able to work with each individual patient to help you achieve your goals.
There is a writers' saying: 'How can I know what I think until I hear what I say?' This applies to psychotherapy as well. Talking about your problems and concerns with a trained, empathic listener is often the best way to discover both your issues and their solutions. I use a great deal of humor and compassion in my work. Psychotherapy is particularly helpful in work with relationship, career issues and ambivalence in choices.
If you are having problems with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, work and creative issues, or issues with being single (divorced, separated, or looking), these types of concerns are particularly treatable with talk therapy. Patients often find that speaking things aloud, articulating difficulties and unearthing the obstacles they are facing are a way through their problems.
Psychotherapy need not be difficult and frightening. I am empathic, accessible, and use a lot of humor and compassion when working with both individuals and couples. Even divorce counseling need not be angry and reproachful.
